Virginia Tech actively seeks a broad spectrum of candidates to join our community in preparing leaders for the world.

Position Summary:

The Dept. of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise (HNFE; http://hnfe.vt.edu) invites applications for a 9-month (AY), tenure-track faculty appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor, and Program Director, Master of Science (MS) Program in Nutrition and Dietetics. An administrative stipend will be provided for leadership of the graduate degree program during the summer months. Responsibilities include program administration (33%), research (33%), and teaching (33%). We are seeking a leader to direct a new MS graduate degree program in Nutrition and Dietetics to prepare students to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). The 17-month, non-thesis MS program emphasis will be on Nutrition Counseling and Behavior Change, with specialty academic and supervised practice track certificate options in research, weight management, and sports nutrition. A research program that complements the focus of the MS program is required; examples include, but are not limited to, eating behaviors, behavior change, nutrition counseling, and/or designing and testing clinical or behavioral interventions to prevent and manage obesity related diseases. Furthermore, we have a strong interest in dietetics researchers who work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to fulfill our department’s translational research mission, and develop partnerships with Carilion Clinic’s Dining and Nutrition Services located in Roanoke, VA, which will provide supervised clinical practice experiences for students. The director will also be part of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute’s (VTCRI) Center for Transformative Research on Health Behaviors (CTRHB; https://ctrhb.vtc.vt.edu/).
