Position Summary:

The Youth Financial Education Specialist directly develops, implements and supervises the Reality Store Program in Loudoun County, Virginia. The Reality Store program is a financial literacy program targeted towards high school seniors. The program teaches the students about the cost of living in their localities, as well as how to make and manage a budget. The Specialist works closely with local school officials to advertise, set a date, and plan for the set-up of the program. Specific duties include: recruiting volunteers from the community to assist with preparation and with the setup of the event: contacting volunteers and sending information about each event in a timely manner; ensuring all materials are updated and ready to be distributed to the students; communicating with school officials and volunteers to ensure the store is set up and ready prior to the actual event; implementing pre and post learner assessments to include resulting data into a statewide system communicating with the Loudoun Volunteer Financial Council while planning the store, and in seeking donations to support the store from Local donors and businesses.
The Youth Financial Education Specialist reports directly to the Virginia Cooperative Extension — Loudoun Office 4-H Extension Agent.

Required Qualifications:

Experience recruiting and directing volunteers; experience maintaining accurate, legible records; ability to communicate with school staff and other county agencies; ability to work effectively without close supervision; must have own transportation with valid operator’s license and good driving record. Proficient in computer programs (Excel, Word, Adobe) and experienced with social media.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred personal finance expertise, however, not required.
