Position Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Power Plant Mechanic Supervisor supervises and assists in specialized maintenance duties involving certified welding, high pressure, high temperature steam and water lines. Special emphasis for alignment, millwright, machining, plumbing, tubing, chemical or other special material applications. The position supervises and assists in major maintenance and preventative maintenance on all boilers, turbine generator, pumps, ash removal, pollution control equipment, and all other auxiliary equipment. The working shift will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., subject to change during winter months. Overtime may be necessary due to emergencies and breakdowns and subject to 24-hour call-in as needed.

Required Qualifications:

- Journeyman level mechanic experience.
- ASOPE First Class or higher license or must obtain within 18 months of employment.
- Ability to use lathe, milling machine, power tools, torches, welders, and hand tools.
- Ability to use micrometer, dial indicator, laser alignment.
- Ability to interpret instructions and complete assignments independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous power plant experience.
- Previous welding certification.
- Previous machine technology certification.
- Previous pipe fitting experience.
- Previous millwright trade experience.
- ASOPE First Class License.
- Previous Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) experience.

- The plant is operated 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Work hours are normally Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. During periods of inclement weather, emergency situations, or for special projects, may work a modified schedule and additional hours to meet the needs of the department.
- This position is also designated as “Emergency Personnel” and must be available as situations warrants for response to after hours calls.
- Must have annual health and safety medical check as part of health assurance program.
- Occasional use/wearing of a respirator may be required.
- Must wear employer provided uniforms as instructed by supervisor or lead.
- As situation dictates, must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- This position may be issued a mobile communication device (such as radio, cell-phone, I-pad, I-pod, pager, etc.). Devices issued are the responsibility of the employee and are to be returned in satisfactory condition upon separation of employment. Devices are to be used according to supervisor instruction and according to relevant policies.
