Position Summary:

Reporting to the Founding Chair of the Calhoun Honors Discovery Program and the Honors College Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Discovery Program and the Honors College. Core responsibilities include serving as the liaison between Virginia Tech students and faculty and the industry partners who are participating in the Calhoun Honors Discovery Program, coordinating scheduling of Program courses and events as informed by student and faculty availability, calendar management, event coordination, and coordinating and keeping track of student and faculty travel.

Required Qualifications:

- Experience providing administrative or program support in a customer oriented professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with current office software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management systems, electronic mail, and presentation applications.
- Strong customer service philosophy and professional communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all individuals, students and faculty in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with strict attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and work independently.
- Ability to project a positive and professional image, establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or closely related field or the equivalent level of training and/or experience.
- Experience coordinating projects, programs, and communications.
- Working knowledge of university academic and operational policies and procedures.
