Position Summary:

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) seeks applications for a Pre-Award Coordinator. The primary role of this position is the submission of accurate, timely, and compliant grant applications for the ECE Department. Reporting to the Business Manager, the Pre-Award Coordinator will assist the ECE faculty by providing support for pre-award sponsored programs proposal activities including budget development, and the review, and evaluation of research grant/contract proposals for compliance with government, sponsor, and institutional policies. The coordinator has responsibility for pre-award processes for sponsored award proposals, promotes best practices for sponsored proposals, and helps the faculty comply with all applicable university, sponsor, and government policies, procedures and/or guidelines. The coordinator works closely with principal investigators to review, prepare, and submit grant proposals, within strict timelines and guidelines, to various funding agencies including industry, federal, state, and local agencies and foundations, validating proposal submissions for accuracy and completeness; reviewing agency requirements and deadlines; creating budget models that mesh within the parameters of project budget and expectations; preparing large-scale, multi-disciplinary proposals; collaborating with external constituencies during the proposal development process; and working directly with PIs to identify potential funding opportunities. The incumbent must be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision, but consult with appropriate parties and supervisor as circumstances dictate. The incumbent will utilize problem-solving and exceptional customer service skills to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty and staff. The incumbent must be able to function in a fast-moving environment subject to firm deadlines, external and internal pressure, and frequent interruptions.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of related education, training and/or work experience. An Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent level education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Budget development or financial experience.
- Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential as are analytical ability, problem solving skills, and ability to attend to detail and meet firm deadlines.
- Ability to interact collaboratively with a diverse constituent population.
- Ability to effectively interact/coordinate with people in like positions in other academic, industrial and research institutions

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with federal and/or non-federal grants or contract regulations.
- Familiarity with university administrative policies, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of requirements as set forth by sponsor Broad Agency Announcements (BAA) or Request for Proposals (RFP).
- Familiarity in research and/or grant funded environments and experience with federal agencies.
