Position Summary:

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a position in Radiology. This is a full-time faculty position that may tenure-track or clinical track. The College will also explore non-traditional appointments allowing obtainment broad professional and personal goals. The radiology section is committed to excellent patient management, client service and clinical teaching. Service responsibilities include participation in small and large animal diagnostic imaging. The radiology section is well equipped with multiple ultrasonography units, CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging. A new fluoroscopy suite will be installed this year. The successful candidate has the opportunity to participate in continuing education programs and faculty governance activities. The candidate will also participate in didactic and experiential student learning in a new integrated curriculum. The radiology section currently maintains two residents in a four-year training program combined with a MS degree. Research responsibilities vary based on the interest and qualification of the candidate and may include collaborative or translational research within and outside of the department. The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to interact and collaborate with the medical oncology and radiation oncology teams in the Comparative Oncology Research Center (CORC) under construction in the health science district beside the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. The CORC is an innovative partnership between the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute and the College of Veterinary Medicine. State of the art equipment at the new facility will include a linear accelerator, CT, high field MR and PET with an adjacent medical cyclotron. Occasional travel may be required and a conviction check is required.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires a DVM or equivalent degree and completion of an American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) approved residency program. Employer will accept degree that is equivalent to DVM or foreign equivalent of DVM.

Board certification in Veterinary Radiology (ACVR or ECVDI) is desirable; however, candidates who have recently completed an approved residency and are board eligible in Veterinary Radiology are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

•ACVR or ECVDI Diplomate status.
•Advanced Degree (MS, PhD).
•Clinical Experience in both large and small animal radiology.
•Experience in Teaching.
•Research Experience.
•Track Record of Scholarly activity.
•Good interpersonal skills and team player.
