Position Summary:

The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) is seeking a full time Inclusion Coordinator to support its efforts to integrate inclusion, equity, diversity and quality initiatives.
Working with the Chief Diversity Officer at VTCSOM, the Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of programs and services that promote and strengthen an inclusive environment within the school community. The position works closely with VTCSOM faculty and staff in admissions, academic affairs, student affairs, community outreach and the Office of the Dean. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in promoting a respectful, positive work environment; provide support to efforts in compliance, accreditation, curriculum and instruction and talent management.
The Inclusion Coordinator develops and implements diversity and inclusion programs including, but not limited to workshops, presentations and training; and will travel nationally to recruit students for medical school admissions. He/she will manage pipeline that support efforts to bring high-achieving students to campus for outreach and engagement activities. The Inclusion Coordinator will also work to bring professionals who are underrepresented in medical education to the school to engage with our students, faculty, staff and community members and provide support to student organizations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in program coordination; experience with diversity and inclusion and issues and programs; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion; excellent communication, administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds; proficiency with current office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in education, public administration, public health, healthcare administration or related field; experience identifying and/or recruiting underrepresented populations; experience in a higher education, academic medicine or healthcare setting.
