Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Advancement Marketing reports to the Director of Marketing and partners with the Development teams to implement successful marketing strategies, increasing participation and revenue for donor programs focused on the “ask, inform and thank” business of Advancement activities for annual and planned giving and stewardship. The Associate Director implements best practices in market segmentation, develops and measures campaigns in the annual giving/planned giving cycles, deploying research to support a culture of continual process improvement.

The Associate Director partners with teams that support the “ask, inform and thank” through direct mail campaigns, student call center programs, and recurring giving programs as well as Advancement-wide projects such as Crowdfunding, Giving Day, and developing a culture of philanthropy among students and young alumni. This role partners with Annual and Planned Giving and Donor Relations teams to establish measures of success, track results, and recommend new strategies to improve effectiveness of fundraising solicitations and stewardship of donors. The Associate Director also advocates for best practices across products and platforms (print and digital).

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated progressive experience in direct marketing communications.

- Demonstrated experience in developing digital marketing plans, measuring their success and continual process improvement.

- Proven experience with Google Analytics and Tag Manager.

- Well-developed communication skills for presenting, writing and collaborating.

- Ability to work across organizational boundaries.

- Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships.

- Comfortable working in a matrix based organization.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize among competing priorities.

- Comfortable working in a fluid and evolving environment.

- Demonstrated self-directed initiative with a focus on achieving goals and results.

- Skilled at developing innovative solutions and ability to communicate the benefits of adopting those solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in related field of marketing, higher education or communications.

- Operational knowledge of Blackbaud CRM system, Adobe email and CMS.

- Experience in direct marketing communications, specifically supporting membership/alumni fundraising or experience in a similar field.
