Position Summary:

This position supports a comprehensive research program in predator-prey ecology. The candidate will provide programmatic support in the form of project management for large-scale studies in Virginia, Florida, and Belize, Central America. This will entail organizing data, organizing field crews for scat collection and camera trapping, assisting with capture and collaring of bobcats, bears, coyotes, and deer, carcass (deer) planting on national forest lands, and management of remote camera data. Tasks also may include vehicle maintenance, ordering supplies, equipment maintenance, data entry, training project personnel, assisting with laboratory set up, genetic sampling, and data management.

Required Qualifications:

Experience with project management for wildlife and/or direct field and laboratory research experience; experience in camera trapping, carcass monitoring, genetic sampling, and orienteering; experience operating 4WD vehicles; experience in data entry and quality control; experience working with stakeholders such as state and federal agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in wildlife sciences or related field; experience with safe capture and handling of small to large mammals and mammal sampling; experience with large scale data management.
