Position Summary:

This applicant pool is established to fill wage steward/dishwasher positions at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center (IVTSCC). Responsibilities include ensuring a clean, safe and sanitary environment for employees and customers at the IVTSCC; washing dishes, serveware and bakeware, pots and pans, and operating the automatic dishwasher; and placing dry dishes, etc., in the appropriate storage containers/areas. Additional responsibilities include cleaning/mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing equipment used in food preparation, emptying trash and compost, and working as a team player with other food service workers/dishwashers to ensure the work is completed in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have previous customer service experience and/or experience working with the public; communication skills; ability to understand and follow instructions and be able to move and handle up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Food service experience; hotel food service experience using a commercial dishwasher; knowledge of general safety/sanitation rules.
