Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director works closely with the staff in Student Conduct to implement and manage identified strategic goals and priorities for the department, as well as to deliver the educational mission of the student conduct system.

Core Responsibilities include:

-Departmental Leadership and Liaison: Assist the institution’s chief conduct officer to facilitate the educational mission of the department, implement the strategic vision of the office, and provide leadership in departmental decision-making and problem solving. Additionally, foster positive working relationships with campus and community partners.

-Project Management: Coordinate and provide leadership to departmental goals, priorities, and projects by coordinating assessment and data analysis efforts, promotional and marketing outreach, and technology maintenance and advancements.

-Development and Educational Priorities: Provide leadership for educational efforts associated with the advancement of the Aspirations for Student Learning, internal and external training and professional development programs, and sanction management and implementation.

-Coordination and Adjudication of Conduct Cases: Coordinate and adjudicate conduct cases and determine sanctions for students and organizations charged with violations of the Code of Student Conduct.

-Compliance: Demonstrate thorough expertise and knowledge the application of university, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations regarding student discipline, student records, Clery, FERPA, and gender-based and sexual violence cases.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree conferred by time of appointment to position, demonstrated work in the area of student conduct or compliance, and knowledge of contemporary college student and legal issues in higher education. The successful candidate must also demonstrate:

-Progressive post-masters professional higher education experience in Student Affairs/ student service units.

-Prior supervision experience

-Ability to work with a diverse student body and foster sensitivity of inclusion and diversity issues in the university community

-Excellent organizational, project management and administrative skills and competencies

-Ability to manage external pressures to make mission centric decisions

-Excellent communication skills

-Ability to make presentations publicly

-Strong personal and professional conflict management skills in the work place

Preferred Qualifications:

-Prior conduct adjudication experience

-Innovative and creative decision maker

-Collaborative and collegial leadership style

-Strong conceptual, analytical and integrative thinking

-Experiences working with special student populations, affinities, and identities

-Coaching and student advising experience

-Program development and implantation

-Development of educational initiatives and programs

-Strategic planning, assessment and data analysis experience

-Experience in gender-based and sexual violence prevention, investigations and adjudications.

-Understanding of Fraternity and Sorority life issues
