Position Summary:

4-H Youth Development program seeks an individual to work with 4-H staff, youth, adults, families, and community resources to deliver and evaluate 4-H educational programs designed to teach life skills to children and families. Programs will include educational activities, contests, camps, and field trips in support of the 4-H program, with special emphasis on in-school and out of school 4-H enrichment programming. Work will include collaboration with the Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development, to provide training and management for volunteers. Individual will be responsible for working with the 4-H fundraising committee. Must be willing to adhere to the Virginia Cooperative Extension Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Compliance Program

Part-time, 29 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work required. Infrequent overnight travel may be required. Possession of valid driver’s license required. Employee is responsible for transportation to work sites and eligible for travel reimbursement.

Required Qualifications:

•Knowledge and/or experience in working with children and adults in an educational setting.
•Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other professionals and volunteers.
•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Publisher and internet applications.
Possession of valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate from accredited university/college with a B.A degree preferred or commensurable work experience preferably in education, behavioral sciences, social work, family and consumer science or related fields. Knowledge of the 4-H program desirable. Experience in education and managing volunteers desired.
