Position Summary:

The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is seeking a qualified Lead Guest Service Representative to provide prompt and courteous customer service to all hotel guests. Responsibilities will include checking in/out hotel guests, taking lodging room reservations, promoting hotel services and amenities and up-sells product to meet customer requests. Must be able to resolve customer’s needs with tact and sensitivity. Blocks rooms in the computer and identify designated requirements and requests. Contact appropriate individuals or departments as necessary to resolve guest calls, requests, or problems. Coordinate with Housekeeping to track readiness of rooms for check-in. Review shift logs/daily memo books and document pertinent information in logbooks.

Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in a customer service environment; knowledge of basic cash handling procedures; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel; must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to problem solve both internal and external customer service issues and complaints in a tactful manner; must be highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferences given for previous hotel front desk experience; night audit experience; knowledge of OPERA property management system or similar property management system; experience with performing account reconciliations.
