Position Summary:

The Assistant Director for Reunion Programs will be responsible for working with reunion classes to achieve the attendance goals set by the reunion volunteers and the Alumni Association. This position will also work on a number of other events and reunions throughout the year, with a focus on event planning and execution, alumni engagement and volunteer management.

The Assistant Director for Reunion Programs will be responsible for strategic planning, volunteer management, event planning, and event execution. Successful candidates will possess strong communication and technological skills. Research and analytical skills are also desirable. The Assistant Director for Reunion Programs will work both independently as well as collaboratively within the department and the university. This position will also be expected to represent the Alumni Relations at various activities and events.

Reunions and Class/Constituency Activities are one of the primary foci of the university’s strategic plan for alumni relations. The Assistant Director for Reunion Programs will support the following fundamental goals of the Reunion Programs:

Re-connect significantly more alumni to the university through their participation in Reunion activities and through a more cohesive, collaborative presentation of university interests at these activities.

Engage and invest significantly more alumni in a higher level of volunteerism in alumni activities.

Develop far-reaching synergies across the traditional and emerging engagement programs at the university and the Alumni Association.

Through engagement programs, increase philanthropic annual giving participation.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Demonstrated experience in event planning, strategic planning, and volunteer management.

Experience monitoring and managing budgets.

Demonstrated knowledge of social media, targeted marketing, and web-based advertising.

Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technological means of communicating to alumni.

Ability to learn proficient use of Blackbaud (alumni database program).

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meetings simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference given to candidates with experience in higher education and/or an active knowledge of the university and its traditions.

Preference given to candidates with experience in reunion programs, alumni engagement, and/or annual giving.

Design skills, advanced Excel skills, marketing and research skills are all highly desirable.

Regional and national travel required for the purposes of conducting field research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, which may include overnights and weekends. Must have the ability and willingness to travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of transportation.
