Position Summary:

Provide financial and operational support for departmental business and grant sponsored projects; develop new project cost proposals and coordinate the formulation, development and allocation of project budgets; provide timely and accurate financial reporting to project sponsor; reconcile monthly accounting statements and maintain accounting files; provide oversight of project activities to ensure compliance with federal, university and departmental regulations; responsible for departmental accounting assignments; responsible for purchasing for departmental and project needs; coordinate fixed assets for the department; assist in the documentation of departmental policies and procedures; assist in the preparation of travel authorizations and reimbursements; maintain information in the tuition remission system as needed. Provide backstopping of departmental human resource needs including recruitment, onboarding, funding, etc.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related area and or equivalent training and experience; demonstrated working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles; considerable accounting experience in a professional level accounting position; high degree of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; ability to research, investigate, analyze and evaluate data; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic business environment; and ability to work effectively, and in a positive manner, on a team and with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional level experience in governmental and/or fund accounting; demonstrated working knowledge of budgeting, including, preparation, tracking and reporting of budgets; proficiency in French or Spanish.
