Position Summary:

Staffing Assistant provides human resources and administrative support to the Business Office within the Office of Advancement. The successful candidate will work as a liaison to schedule interviews, assist with referral management, and support additional search efforts when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

- Previous experience in an human resource environment or administrative office within an academic or professional office setting with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining complex schedules and calendars.
- Demonstrated proficiency using software applications such as Microsoft Office and Outlook calendaring.
- Ability to organize, plan, prioritize work, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in a professional and courteous manner, and interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience working in a human resources office or processing of personnel related paperwork.
- Experience with electronic applicant tracking systems or human resource information system (HRIS).
- Experience with large relational databases such as Banner HR.
- Demonstrated recruiting experience and expertise leveraging recruiting tools, specifically LinkedIn, to attract passive candidates for recruiting purposes.
- Working knowledge of Virginia Tech or state personnel policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc. policies and procedures.
