Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Licensing and Trademarks will manage and administer the university’s licensing program working within the Marketing team under the direction of the Marketing Director. The Associate Director of Licensing will develop and implement marketing strategies for positive public awareness campaigns to promote officially licensed merchandise to consumers. This position is responsible for the review process of proposed licensed products, advising the Marketing Director on licensee management and assists the Marketing Director in the management of the relationships with strategic partners including national licensees, local retailers, and on-campus partners.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.

Demonstrated business planning, presentation/public speaking, advanced writing, and leadership skills.

Proven marketing experience, preferably in retail sector.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain external relationships.

Experience in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.

Experience using various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.

Maintains high ethical standards.

Self-motivated and willing to embrace the concept and attitude of teamwork in a complex organization.

Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time including some overnight.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensing administration experience in a university setting or similar complex organization.

Experience in contract negotiation, management and budget management.

Advanced degree in marketing, business administration, communications, sports administration, or related field.

Public relations experience.

Familiarity with trademark law, administration, and practices.

Working knowledge of social media and e-commerce strategies.

Familiarity with current global social justice challenges and experience working with advocacy groups such as Students Against Sweatshops.

Experience using Web Content Management Systems.
