Position Summary:

In recent years, zebrafish has emerged as one of the leading models for developmental and computational neuroscience. The advantages of zebrafish include powerful genetics, simple nervous system, and translucent brain, ideal for structural and functional studies of the brain. The Pan lab at the VTCRI uses zebrafish to understand the complex interactions between genes, neural circuits, and behavior. We aim to elucidate the roles of cell adhesion molecules and candidate disease genes in the assembly of neurons into functional neural pathways. At this time, the Pan lab is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow. The incumbent will be responsible for (1) performing experimental studies using a combination of biochemical, genetic, imaging, and behavioral techniques, (2) collaborate with PI to write grant proposals and research papers, and (3) participate in laboratory upkeep and animal husbandry (genotyping, breeding, and maintaining stocks). We are seeking a bright, motivated, and hard-working individual who is interested in utilizing the advantages of the zebrafish model to understand the development of neural circuits. The ideal candidate would have background in developmental biology, neurobiology, genetics, and be competent in advanced imaging techniques.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD degree in developmental biology, neurobiology or related field.
• Good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to work independently.
