Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator within Virginia Tech’s College Access Collaborative (CAC) aims to facilitate college access and success for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Using a multifaceted approach that includes college awareness workshops, one-on-one coaching, enrollment assistance, academic support, and academic counseling, the Program Coordinator will help illuminate the pathway to college for CAC partner schools and organizations. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with campus and community colleagues to plan and implement on- and off- campus CAC programs.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling or related field or equivalent training and/or experience
- Experience such as academic support and/or academic advising
- Knowledge and skill in creating and editing professional documents and correspondence
- Experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Must be able to manage multiple on-going projects, work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact comfortably with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment
- Some travel required including some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience implementing and facilitating workshops
- Experience working with underrepresented and/or disadvantaged student populations
- Experience with event planning
- Knowledge of student support services within higher education
