Position Summary:

Review start up funds, grants, and university and foundation funds monthly. Maintain a monthly list of available balances by fund number as well as by principal investigator or faculty member responsible for the account. Distribute monthly summary reports to faculty concerning their grants, start-up funds and operating accounts. Monitor closing dates on all funds to facilitate extensions/final invoicing in accordance with Office of Sponsored Programs standards or fiscal year-end closing. Maintain working files for each fund including budgets, research proposals, monthly transaction details, supporting documentation expenses, reconciled monthly summary reports. Coordinate reconciliation of accounts and finalize reconciliation reports.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field or relevant training and or experience; must have experience with bookkeeping and accounting; proficiency with current office computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with account reconciliation; excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with University Banner system, HokieMart, travel authorization/reimbursements; foundation accounts; sponsored programs; cash-handling; familiarity with federal and state policies and procedures in fiscal matters.
