The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Imaging Technologist. This position performs routine and complex procedures in Diagnostic Imaging to produce high quality images of anatomical structures for interpretation by the Radiologist, adheres to and enforces mandatory radiation safety measures in all areas, participates in equipment maintenance program, and reviews and evaluates radiographic, CT and MRI images to determine if satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Other responsibilities include instructing senior veterinary students in radiation safety, correct imaging positioning and technique, and performing related clerical duties. Required to work variable schedule and take after-hours call.
Successful candidate must be ARRT board certified (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) radiologic technologist, licensed (or eligible) by Commonwealth of Virginia or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT); previous experience and working knowledge of diagnostic radiography; experience working with veterinary patients; previous experience and working knowledge of biomedical imaging equipment; ability to readily learn new procedures and must be adaptable and flexible; must have strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with co-workers, students, faculty and patients. Rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer). Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.
Previous experience and working knowledge of CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging. Experience working with, handling and restraining various species of large animals.
