The Licensing and Trademarks Director will manage and administer the university’s licensing program, review and approve/disapprove proposed licensed products, develop and implement marketing programs to increase sale of licensed products, and nurture relationships with strategic partners including national licensees, local retailers, and on-campus partners.
The well qualified applicant will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Advanced degree in marketing, business administration, communications, sports administration, or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with experience equivalent to advanced degree may be substituted.
Demonstrated knowledge of contract negotiation, management and budget management.
Demonstrated business planning, presentation/public speaking, advanced writing, and supervisory/leadership skills.
Familiarity with trademark law, administration, and practices.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain external relationships.
Experience developing and implementing strategic and operational plans.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
Experience using various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
Maintains high ethical standards.
Self-motivated and willing to embrace the concept and attitude of teamwork in a complex organization.
Proven marketing experience, particularly in retail sector.
Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time including some overnight.
Licensing administration experience in a university setting or similar complex organization.
Public relations experience.
Working knowledge of social media and e-commerce strategies.
Familiarity with current global social justice challenges and experience working with advocacy groups such as Students Against Sweatshops.
Experience using Web Content Management Systems.
