Position Summary:

The Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech (http://cnp.phys.vt.edu) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate focussing on the CUORE neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment and R&D for next generation bolometric detectors.
The Postdoctoral Associate will have the opportunity to participate in commissioning and operation of CUORE at La-boratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) and will contribute to data analysis and simulations as part of the CUORE science program. The position will be based in Blacksburg, Virginia, but frequent travel to LNGS will be required, especially during the early phases of operation. Subject to availability of funding, the group plans to develop a low-background R&D lab at the Kimballton Underground Research Facility (KURF) which is close to Virginia Tech. The researcher would play a leading role in developing this lab and bolometric detector R&D. The researcher will also actively engage in mentorship of graduate and undergraduate research students in the group.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should hold or soon complete a PhD in experimental nuclear/particle physics or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in any of the following areas is an advantage: cryogenic particle detectors, related micro-fabrication techniques, cryogenics ( especially in the milli kelvin regime), low-background tech-niques, statistical data analysis, C++, and GEANT4.
