This position carries out project responsibilities for the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) and Initiative to Maximize Student Diversity (IMSD) programs. Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding, prepares renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies. Assists with pre-award applications and may assist with locating sources of outside funding. Provides unit with daily monitoring of grants and contracts for Principal Investigator to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract and university guidelines. The incumbent will prepare written reports, documents, and manuals for project leader. The position may provide input into budget preparation, hiring decisions and expenditures and have supervisory authority over project personnel.
MS Degree, or BS Degree and applicable experience. Demonstrated project management experience in conducting research projects in an academic or industrial environment. Good communication skills demonstrating strong track record in presentations and proposal development. Creative, independent, and highly motivated, with firm understanding of life sciences research environment. Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a development group. Supervisory experience.
PhD preferred. Experience in management of sponsored contracts. Significant training and/or experience in management and organization of sponsored research activities.
